A picture is worth 1,000…dates?

Ok, maybe not 1,000 (UGH, that sounds terrible, amirite?)…but clear, current and fun profile photos really can help you to up your dating and/or social media game in your hopes of meeting your match.

In a sea of swiping it really can be hard to stand out. So we have five suggestions to up your profile pics and catch the eye of more potential dates.

1) Your first/opening photo should be a clear, high quality photo of JUST YOU (no friends, no family!) that shows your face (no sunglasses and avoid hats!). Bonus points for a genuine smile or even a candid laugh that may show off a bit of personality.

2) Try to rock a bright color in your first photo. A bright primary color - especially red, green or blue - tend to capture the eye. This could be the difference in getting someone to pause they’re auto-pilot swiping and give your profile a second look.

3) All of your photos should be current (preferably within the previous year) and reflect you at your current self. BECAUSE YOU ARE A BAD ASS HOTTIE JUST AS YOU ARE.

4) Include photos of you doing fun things - I won’t lie, there was a point in time where if I saw one more man holding a fish in a dating photo, I would have tossed my phone in the river…but you know, what. Go for it. If that is your fun and what you genuinely love doing - POST IT. Some people love hiking and some hate it - that’s OK. Love adventure? Go ahead and include that skydiving photo in your lineup. Love run? A finish line photo is another great one to include. There’s a prompt on Hinge that says something like “Dating me is like…” - and that’s exactly what all of your photos should convey.Better to put an honest representation of yourself in your profile. Not only does it give you a conversation starter, but it also helps us all to weed out the folks whose favorite activities may never align.

5) Keep the group photos to a minimum. Yes, it’s good to know you are social and have friends…but remember…you are the star of this show. Let’s keep it all about YOU.
