Honestly, if you've never watched a lacrosse game before, you're in for an exciting time filled with action, speed, and skill. While I have never played lacrosse, I have been a fan of it since high school (I managed our H.S. team!) and college (my alma mater is a multi-national title winner- GO ORANGE!). So for those who are new to the game — here goes:

What is Lacrosse?

Lacrosse is an exciting and dynamic team sport that originated with Native American tribes and has evolved into a modern, competitive and super athletic game. It is often referred to as "the fastest sport on two feet" because of its rapid pace and quick transitions.

How is Lacrosse played?

  • Teams: Lacrosse is played between two teams, each consisting of 10 players (field players) and a goalkeeper.

  • Objective: The objective of the game is to score goals by shooting the ball into the opponent's net.

  • Field: The game is played on a field roughly the size of a football field, with goals at each end.

  • Equipment: Players use a stick called a crosse (or lacrosse stick) to carry, pass, and shoot the ball. The ball is made of rubber, and players wear helmets, gloves, and pads for protection.

  • Duration: A standard lacrosse game consists of four quarters, each lasting 15 minutes.
